Beyond The Rule Book
Here are some more complex rules to the game that may not be clearly stated in the Rule Book.
Action Cards
Action Cards in your hand
Events, Curses, and other action cards that you have in your hand may be played on your turn only. You may play it to other players or onto yourself.
Card Effects
Immunity
Any cards with the name of the immunity will have no effect.
Immune to magic example:
If a monster has immunity to fire element, any cards with fire element is considered useless and/or adds zero to the player.
This effect also extends to a player changing their attack to an element. If a player changes their attack to fire element, the monster nullifies the entire attack to be zero.
Immune to death example:
If a monster will cause you to die, instead you do not die and remain at 1 life.
Immune to discard example:
Cards that may otherwise cause your card to be discarded are ignored.
Once Per Turn
Cards that say “Once per turn…” allows you to use the effect once on anyone’s turn.
Magic VS Magic Instant
If a card indicates the word “Magic”, it means the effect is triggered when a card is magic.
Examples of magic: Enchantments, elemental attacks, magic curse and magic instants.
Magic instants is a type of instant card and is only a subset of all the magic cards (listed above).
Combat
Battling more than one monster
When battling two or more monsters, you battle the monsters together and combine the attacks with attacks, and defenses with the defenses.
Example:
If one monster has 5 ATK and 5 DEF, and a second monster joins the battle with 3 ATK and 4 DEF; you combine them together. The total ATK will be 8 and the total DEF will be 9.
You will also suffer both the monster cards Defeat Effects and Damage.
If the Monster is defeated, you will gain both the monster’s rewards.
Elemental Attacks (Changing your attack into an element)
When changing an attack to an element, it counts as magic, but it is not considered a Magic Instant.
Instant Kill
When instantly killing a monster, you avoid all damage or defeat effects that may occur.
Collect the rewards as if you have defeated the monster in combat.
Magic Source Effects used to help Monster
When a player is helping the monster with an instant card that has Magic Source, it will trigger the Magic Source effect if the player casting the spell has Magic Source.
Game Board
Fast Travel
You are allowed to fast travel when you are in one of your own settlements or a city.
Fast travel costs 3 Keru Coins to travel to one of your own settlements or another city.
You may not travel to another player’s settlement.
You can fast travel on phase one or three of your turn.
Space Effects
Space Effects trigger only when you enter and land on the space.
The exception to this rule is crossing the mountains, pay toll, and boats. Those effects are played out while crossing.
Quests
Quest Items
When quests that require quest items are completed, the quest items are discarded unless otherwise stated.
Slay A Player quest
You can help a monster to slay a player by increasing the monster’s attack in order to inflict damage to the player’s health.
You may use instant cards or event cards to cause someone to lose life and die.
Settlements
Building Settlements on spaces with effects
Building Settlements on spaces with effects will negate effects. The space will only be considered a settlement.
